Countdown is on...and this was when reality set in. We flew from Guilin to Beijing where we would stay at the Poly Palace (http://www.asiahotels.com/hotelinfo/Poly_Plaza_Beijing/)...a meeting point for sundry adoption agencies. We were greeted in Beijing Airport by who would be our Guardian Angel throughout the rest of our stay here...our GWCA guide Veronica...and her GWCA green flag. There we met the other families through Great Wall China Adoption who had received their referrals! We saw and did so much in Beijing I'll be putting each in it's own separate page. We've already been in China for 4 days...and are heads are spinning with information about Dynasties, how to chose a good pearl, and that in 3 days we'll hold our Maddie for the first time! Information and feeling overload!! I'm robotic at this point. Morning breakfast...one foot in front of the other...but...hey...didn't we see that fellow back in Guilin? We're greeting and congratulating people right and left...and my normally fabulous ability to remember names completely vanishes.
So...in we drove to the Poly Plaza. Veronica was gracious and warm...and immediately comforting with her tranquil nature and effeciency. Wow...can we adopt you? She took us by the "Bird's Nest"...the structure being built for the 2008 Olympics opening ceremony. Then to the hotel as she had more families to pick up. We rested, ate, walked to the mall next door...a bit tired and numb...but excited. Above is our hazy view from our room. Beijing is much less humid than Hong Kong or Guilin...it's a welcome relief. Back to a rock hard bed.
The next day we went with many from GWCA on the "Dragon Tour". A whirlwind tour of Beijing's Hotspots. This blogspot with include the pandas at the Beijing Zoo (http://www.kinabaloo.com/beijing_zoo.html) and The Summer Palace. During this tour we alsohad a delightful lunch at a Thai restaurant with dancers.
Okay...so here goes.
